Today Demands My Presence
I catch myself drifting into the past, replaying mistakes. Or jumping ahead into the future, worrying about things that haven’t happened yet. Both steal the one thing I actually have: this moment.
Today is not a rehearsal. It’s not practice for some future life. It is the life. Right here, right now, this breath, this step, this choice.
If I give today my full attention, I will not miss it. If I waste it, I lose the only time I ever truly owned.
So I come back. To this page, this task, this breath. Today demands my presence. And I will give it.
“Confine yourself to the present.” – Marcus Aurelius
